Our company takes an idea from design, through all construction stages, to completion of the project. We can make the home you live in more pleasant and efficient for you and your family.
We appreciate the fact that people, you and your family, may be living at the 'construction site'. We go out of our way to make the time during renovations as pleasant and safe as possible. Only the highest quality building materials and products are used on our jobs to ensure a long-term, trouble free result.
Once a project has been scheduled, one of our long-time construction managers will see the project through to completion. Using a combination of our carpentry staff along with our team of mechanical specialists, the construction manager keeps the project going at a smooth pace and ensures that the final product meets our exacting standards. Our clients are updated on a regular basis to keep them abreast of job progress.

Meet the Owner
About Richard -
Richard A. Derr, founder of R.E. Richards Inc. was born into the building business. He continued the family tradition by starting R.E. Richards Inc. in 1974.
Richard has been a strong advocate for professionalism in the building trades, having served as President of the International Remodeling Contractors Association. He lobbied on behalf of the remodeling industry at the Connecticut State Capitol and served on a State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Task Force.
Richard was a founding board member of Christmas in April - Hartford, now known as Rebuilding Together - hartford and has continued to serve as a House Captain over the years.
Currently Richard serves on the Public Building Committee for the Town of Simsbury, CT, as well as the Board of Trustees for First Church of Christ, Simsbury, CT.
